The Rolf Gérard Foundation is located in the old Ressiga-Vacchini house in the historic centre of Ascona.

About us

The Foundation has a remarkable collection of paintings and graphic works, not only paintings and drawings created using various techniques, but also countless sketches and drafts for opera and theatre productions, created by Gérard in Europe and especially in the United States, where he began his career, lasting over twenty years, as a set designer for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, with the staging of Verdi's opera “Don Carlo”, which is still a symbol of the MET today.
