The Rolf Gérard Foundation is located in the old Ressiga-Vacchini house in the historic centre of Ascona.
The Foundation has a considerable collection of paintings and graphic works; not only paintings and drawings made with various techniques, but also countless sketches and designs of the opera and theatre productions, made by Gérard in Europe and especially in the United States, where he began his activity, which lasted over twenty years, as designer of the Metropolitan Opera of New York, with the staging of Verdi’s “Don Carlo”, which is still today a symbol of the MET.
